Okay. It’s been a while since I’ve been here on this thing so there is a lot to cover.
Time flies when you are working like crazy, runnin’ into the law, teaching, goin’ to school, and raisin’ two kids . With that said there are pictures here of the Varick Street Project inside of Original Media that I did with the help of Billy Mode, Heather Jones, and my wife who ran the kids to school early so Bill and I could get on the train by 4:30 to work.
There are also pictures of some of my students at EBCHS graffiti work, a piece I did for Fountain at Art Basel and a piece I did for The Underbelly Project at Basel as well. I had been wanting to do some pieces incorporating my favorite musicians so I did Pops to start out with. Tune in for more soon.
In my spare moments I built myself a projector stand out of my old chair. It works great. I just bolted a piece of wood to the hardware where the seat use to be. Now I can adjust the height and move the projector around with ease. Hot Damn!
Today I finished up a preview piece for a show in LA this Feb at CAVE gallery with Veng. More on all that later.
[Well looks like i can only load 10 images at a time. I will have to upload the others in a new post. Stay tuned]
Thanks for stoppin’ by!

Camera phones don’t always take the best pictures but I think you can get the gist of what’s going on here as we make our way through the space. I have added some references from The Faith Of Graffiti and Tag Town to give the mural some special flavor.
Next Saturday The NY ART BOOK FAIR opens. If you are an art/photo/zine book lover it’s a must. I will be there doing stencils and talking about my book Long Story Short http://nyartbookfair.com/about.php
Happy Monday!!! Time for school and work and whatever you’ve got lined up. I know you are excited and so am I. Over the weekend, after my Art in Education class up in Harlem I met Heather at the office for a little work to chip away at the space. As you can tell by the photo she wasn’t happy. Bill comes back tonight and we will start again at 4am. Until then back to homework.
Hello! This is where we are with the office project after 4 days. We are working in the midst of different trades as they finish the electric, drywall, woodwork, and floors. Although it’s hard to get up at 4 am and get moving its somehow easier than staying up till 4am and working. At least for us. Plus there is nothing like getting on the L at 4:30 in the morning and hearing some guy singing Frank Sinatra’s New York. Bill and I still have many miles to go before completion but I think we are off to a good start.
Thanks for stopping by.
Last night Bill and I embarked on a long journey of staining wooden walls with inner city imagery for an office being built in Manhattan. I wish I could give all my time to it but it’s being juggled between my kids schedule, teaching, school, homework and housework.
We are choosing the images to work with as we go, much like a DJ would choose the right records to play to go with the proceeding song. Since I have folders full of images it’s like digging through the crates to find the perfect record to keep people dancing. We are working with water based wood stain to apply the imagery which will all be clear coated at the end of the project. If all goes as planned I will post the progress regularly.
this image of the boy on a bike is a newer piece that I have been wanting to paint in a large scale so it worked out in my favor for this space.
Thanks for stopping by!
Very nice write up and photos at BSA on my 911 piece. Thanks to all who made the mural and article happen!
At the end of the month the NYC Art Book Fair begins at PS 1 in Long Island City, Queens.
If you are a fan or art books, photos books, and zines, you should definitely come through because it’s incredible! You need about 2 days to really take it all in to be honest.
This year among the many tables set up, DRAGO publishers from Italy will be there with a host of books focusing on Street Art and counter culture. I believe there will be some advanced copies of my book Long Story Short available as well. Hope to see you there!
